oot Camp 2009_nonmember

What if I want to attend but am not accepted into EnCorps?

I am thinking seriously about joining EnCorps and know some friends who are equally as interested.  Is there a way for us to attend?

Yes!  You can take part in the experience by registering for the Boot Camp Open House.  Both you and your friends are invited to this event.

Act Now!  Please note that space for non-members is limited so get your friends invited as soon as you can!

Why should I attend if I am not an EnCorps member yet?

You should attend if you want to:

•    See EnCorps Teacher Pioneers in action
•    See if Public School teaching is the right profession for you
•    Know if there is the support you need to become a teacher
•    See if you have the passion to be a Public School Teacher
•    Know more about EnCorps’ teacher preparation process
•    Meet others who have been in EnCorps for a while and understand why they joined.
•    Benefit from EnCorps without making a full commitment

What is different about the 1-Day session and the 3-day session for EnCorps Pioneers?

Friday, June 5th has been set up as an Open House for all who are interested in becoming Public School Teachers through EnCorps Teachers.  You will participate in panels and sessions designed to help you think through how you will engage in education as a full time classroom teacher.   You will also attend EnCorps’ Back to School dinner and teacher gala on Friday night.

In contrast, the full 3-day Boot Camp training sessions will focus on preparing EnCorps Pioneers to become effective and hirable teachers.

Are there limits to the number of people who can attend the 1-Day session?

Yes, EnCorps can accommodate a limited number of individuals on a first-come, first-served basis.  Register as soon as registration opens on April 15th to secure your spot at the Open House.

How does Boot Camp fit into my overall Teacher Preparation program at EnCorps?

Boot Camps begin the preparation process for Pioneers as they plan for their first teaching experiences in the Fall of that year.  This includes both Substitute and Full Time teaching experiences.

For Full Time Pioneers

A required event for EnCorps Pioneers, Boot Camp is the capstone event for their teacher preparation with EnCorps.  Designed to complement their University Credentialing program training, Boot Camp prepares Pioneers to enter their Credentialing Program of choice with a strong sense of community and the right questions.

For Substitute Teachers

New this year, Boot Camp will have a separate track for Substitute teachers focusing on Classroom Management and Lesson Plans for Student Achievement.  As there is very little, if any, training for substitute teachers, Boot Camp is a key piece of your developmental experience.
